Save places and return to their map

Search for a city or airport, save the place in your browser and open its map or current public weather. Saved places are local to this browser; there is no account or cross-device sync.

How to save a place

  • Search for a city or airport, then select a location from the results.
  • Choose Save place. It appears under Your saved places on this browser.
  • Select a saved place to inspect its weather or choose Open map to explore its location. Use its delete button to remove the local saved record.

What is saved and what is fetched

The saved record contains the place name, location and available geographic fields. Weather is fetched from Open-Meteo for the selected coordinates and includes its observation time and timezone. Place searches use a small local reference and Open-Meteo geocoding; a search may return several similarly named places.

Local storage and watch limits

Clearing this site’s browser storage can remove places and preferences. Private browsing may discard them when the session ends. Saving a place does not enable background monitoring. The map’s separate Watch control checks new public earthquake and natural event records while the page is open, using a broad ±5° area.

Questions about this tool

Will saved places appear on another device?

No. Saved records stay in this browser’s local storage. There is no account-based backup or synchronization.

Does saving a place publish it?

The save action stores a local record. It does not publish a public profile or a community post. External map and weather services still receive the requests needed to display their content.
